Grooms by Serena

Meet Serena

Serena began her professional grooming career in 2021 and founded The Dog House Pet Salon in 2023 with one goal in mind: to create a happy, low-stress environment where pets feel safe, loved, and genuinely well cared for. From the beginning, she has believed strongly in appointment-based grooming, individualized attention, and taking the time to understand each dog rather than treating grooming as a one-size-fits-all service.

Serena is AKC S.A.F.E. Certified, reflecting her commitment to safety, proper handling, and professionalism within the salon. Her approach has always prioritized the individual dog over speed or volume. To Serena, a successful groom is not only about how a dog looks when they leave, but also about how they were treated and how comfortable they felt throughout the process.

Her favorite dogs to work with are senior dogs and toy-sized breeds, especially those that benefit from a little extra patience, gentle handling, or individualized accommodations. She currently has a spirited Chihuahua of her own and grew up with German Shepherds, giving her a lifelong appreciation for dogs of all sizes and personalities.

As both a groomer and salon owner, Serena is passionate about continuing education and regularly invests in industry courses, seminars, conventions, and hands-on learning to stay current with grooming techniques, safety practices, and advancements within the professional grooming industry. She brings that education back to the salon, using it to continually improve standards and provide ongoing education and development for her team.

Training has become an important part of Serena’s role at The Dog House. With the exception of Rachel, who joined the salon as an already experienced groomer, Serena has personally trained and developed each of the salon’s groomers. Many of the grooming techniques, handling practices, and standards of care used throughout The Dog House have been directly taught and established by Serena. She remains closely involved in her team’s continued development, with an emphasis on consistency, professionalism, safe handling, attention to detail, and doing what is in the best interest of each dog.

As The Dog House has grown, Serena’s role has expanded beyond the grooming table to focus more heavily on salon operations, continuing education, quality standards, and developing the next generation of groomers within her team.

Serena’s personal grooming client list is currently closed, allowing her to dedicate more of her time to leading and developing the salon while continuing to care for her established clientele. Although she is not accepting new grooming clients personally, clients can feel confident choosing from the team she has helped train and develop, with the same philosophy of thoughtful, individualized care at the heart of The Dog House.
